About Florence

Florence has been a district councillor since 2011 and says she loves working for and with the people in her ward. She attends Parish Council meetings regularly. She lives with her family in Long Stratton and spent most of her working life as a school teacher teaching Economics and Business Studies. Having been a school governor, a volunteer with the Credit Union and involved in looking after the environment, since her retirement, Florence has dedicated her time to being a full-time community champion.

She has served on several committees at South Norfolk Council since being elected eight years ago. She has funded all current Parish Councils with projectors and screens which can be borrowed by community groups in that village. She was proud to make a contribution towards the repair and renewal of the bells at All Saint’s Church in Shotesham and to the Youth Cricket Club in Saxlingham for extra coaching.

She has also enabled the purchase of a mud kitchen by Tasburgh playgroup. Florence is delighted that we made it so much easier to recycle more things in the green bin and now we’re all recycling more than ever before. Florence has played a leading role in ensuring even the most isolated homes and businesses can get connected to super-fast broadband which is good for the economy and great for families.

She was pleased to have ensured that conservation areas in Shotesham and Saxlingham were extended. She has the enthusiasm, energy and commitment required to be a district councillor. Florence cares about people and knows her local area well and will be an effective community champion for local people.

She says “Local people need someone to stand up for them on the local Council and, if elected, I hope to be in a position to get things sorted for local people in local villages.” “I derive a great deal of personal satisfaction from helping those who come to me to solve their problems”
